Happy Fall, Y'all

Pumpkin Carving

This Halloween was really the first one that you actively helped carve your pumpkin. Since you had a small "sugar pie" pumpkin, we had to do the "cutouts" instead of actually carving a picture on it. You chose to do some star cutouts so I helped you do those after we ("I") cleaned the insides out...you didn't really like touching the "icky" seeds and demanded on wearing gloves which was quite comical because the gloves were extremely too big for you. Because we did this on a Sunday night you and Aiden ended up having to go to bed before Dad was able to finish his pumpkin and light them all up--once Dad had them outside, he woke you up and showed you what they looked like...you thought it was pretty cool! 

 

Motley's Pumpkin Patch

Fall always yields a cycle of holiday traditions for our family and 2010 was no different. We headed off to Motley's Pumpkin Patch two weeks before Halloween to pick out our pumpkins. Each person always picks out their own and then we head home to carve them. We started out at the petting "zoo" where you and Aiden shrieked, petted, laughed and try to kiss the goats, chickens, ducks, donkey, etc. From there we went to find mine & Dad's pumpkins. Dad is very particular about the pumpkin picking process and promises that he has a 'method to his madness' so this usually takes a little while. You guys are usually game for this though because we let you run around and play with the pumpkins and help pick them out. Since we had gone later in the day, we got there just a little bit before the last pig races of the day so we headed over to watch those after Dad picked out the pumpkins. This was pretty cool since we had never watched them before. You guys got a real kick out of the pigs!!

When those were finished, we headed back over to the pumpkin patch and took a "train" ride. I rode with Aiden and you got in your own "car" (the "cars" were made out of plastic barrels and the "engine" was a small tractor). You loved the ride, for sure!!!! Lastly, we went to find you and Aiden a "sugar pie" pumpkin, although I think we've decided after carving them that next year we might should go with a bigger one like mine & Dad's because they tend to cave in after being lit up & exposed to the weather/elements after a few nights.....

Looking forward to another trip this year. You guys are definitely getting to be a lot more fun around the holidays now that you're older and have a grasp on what's really going on......

Morning Cuddles

When you two aren't fighting, you love to cuddle with each other. Recently on certain movies "Shrek & Alice in Wonderland) you "save" Aiden on the "scary" parts...it's so cute watching you be the "big sister" to him! 

Little Rock Air Show

We took you guys to the Little Rock Air Show on October 10th. This was your second time to go and you were very intrigued with all of the jets flying overhead. You would giggle when they would loudly fly over us. We only stayed a couple of hours (it was the last day of the show and it was still pretty hot) and you/Aiden did pretty well--we took the double stroller so it would be easier to keep up with you guys in the crowds of people so because of this you both got a little fussy about not wanting to sit in it, etc....other than that, we had a great time!

Playing Catch Up

I feel like such a horrible blogging mom--I haven't blogged a single entry in almost three months!! So much has happened, I feel, since then so I'm going to try to play catch up as much as I can for the remainder of this week....here goes.

First Fishing Trip

You have been talking about wanting to go fishing for months--one of your friends, Connor, talks about it at school and apparently you decided you wanted to go, too. Daddy took you to WalMart where you bought your very first fishing rod--a Barbie one--and then on September 12th he took you fishing..just the two of you. The first lake he took you to was a local one around the Sherwood area but there weren't any fish biting so then he took you to the one you wanted to go to (the little public "pond" next to the police station) and you proceeded to catch 2 fish--Daddy only caught 1 (but according to him, he wasn't really "fishing"--just trying to help you catch fish). You really had a great time and talk about going back all the time!! I think Daddy is planning on taking you again before it gets too cold!! Here are some pics he took of your special time together!! It melts my heart knowing you two are making memories you'll always cherish!!
